SHARING IS CARING!

Crispy Toasted Ravioli is the ultimate appetizer or snack that everyone loves! These golden-brown ravioli are coated in a seasoned breadcrumb mixture, fried to perfection, and served with marinara sauce for dipping. A Midwest classic that originated in St. Louis, toasted ravioli is crunchy on the outside and oozing with cheesy or meaty goodness on the inside. Perfect for parties, game days, or a fun family dinner, this easy-to-make dish is sure to disappear from the table in no time.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (20 oz / 567g) frozen ravioli (cheese or meat-filled)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk
  • 1 ½ cups (170g) Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping
  • Fresh parsley (optional), for garnish

Directions

  1. Prepare the Coating Station:
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In another bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, oregano, and smoked paprika.
  2. Coat the Ravioli:
Dip each ravioli in the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then dredge it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Set the coated ravioli on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Heat the Oil:
In a deep skillet or heavy-bottomed pot, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the Ravioli:
Fry the coated ravioli in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the ravioli to a plate lined with paper towels.
  5. Serve:
Arrange the crispy toasted ravioli on a serving platter, sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired, and serve with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Baking Option: For a lighter version, bake the coated ravioli on a greased baking sheet at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Air Fryer Option: Place the ravioli in a single layer in an air fryer basket and cook at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes.
  • Make Ahead: Coat the ravioli in advance and refrigerate for up to 4 hours before frying.
  • Dipping Sauces: In addition to marinara, try ranch, garlic aioli, or a spicy sriracha mayo for a flavor twist.

Crispy Toasted Ravioli is a guaranteed hit, delivering crunch, flavor, and nostalgia in every bite. Make a batch and watch them vanish!
