Scalloped Potatoes

This classic scalloped potatoes recipe is creamy, cheesy, and a delightful side dish for any meal.

  • 4 cups potatoes sliced thinly
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1.5 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in milk, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour half of the milk mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  • Repeat with remaining potatoes, milk mixture, and cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and top is golden brown.

Notes

For an extra crispy top, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes after baking.
