  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold butter cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese sharp
  • 0.5 cup cooked bacon crumbled
  • 2 units eggs large
  • 0.75 cup buttermilk

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the cold butter and cut into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the cheddar cheese and bacon.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and buttermilk together. Mix into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, knead gently, and roll into a 1-inch thick circle. Cut into wedges.
  • Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.

These scones are best served warm and can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
