Mississippi Mud Cake

A rich and chocolatey cake with a gooey marshmallow layer and a chocolate frosting.

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 10.5 oz marshmallows about 20 large

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix melted butter, sugar, and cocoa powder until combined.
  • Add flour and eggs alternately, mixing between additions until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and immediately cover with marshmallows.

Notes

Let the cake cool before cutting to ensure clean slices.
