Preparation Steps
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add olive oil, flour, and sea salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Divide the dough into 12 pieces. Roll each piece into a 10-inch rope and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Mix Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian herbs. Sprinkle over the breadsticks.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Brush with olive oil before serving.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the herb mixture. Store any leftover breadsticks in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
