Easy Molasses Buns

Soft, slightly sweet molasses buns perfect for breakfast or as a snack.

  • 0.5 cup molasses unsulfured
  • 1 cup milk warm
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 2 tsp yeast active dry

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let it sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
  • Add molasses, melted butter, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  • Punch down dough, divide into 12 pieces, and shape into buns. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  • Let buns rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 15 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack.
