Ingredients

  • 1 8 oz / 0.5 lb can crescent roll dough
  • 8 breakfast sausages precooked or fully cooked
  • ¼ cup 0.06 lb shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon 0.05 lb melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup optional, for brushing

Optional Toppings and Dips:

  • Maple syrup for dipping
  • Honey mustard
  • Powdered sugar for a sweet twist

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: Prepare the Crescent Dough

  • Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles along the perforations.

Step 3: Assemble the Pigs in a Blanket

  • Place a sausage at the wide end of each dough triangle.
  • Sprinkle a bit of shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage, if desired.
  • Roll the dough around the sausage, starting from the wide end and rolling toward the point. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 4: Brush with Butter

  • Brush the tops of the rolled dough with melted butter. For a touch of sweetness, stir a teaspoon of maple syrup into the melted butter before brushing.

Step 5: Bake the Pigs in a Blanket

  • Bake for 12–15 minutes or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and puffed.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve warm with maple syrup or your favorite dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
  • Variations: Use bacon or ham instead of sausage for variety.
  • Make it Sweeter: Dust with powdered sugar and serve with syrup for a sweet-savory combo.
  • Serving Idea: Pair with scrambled eggs and fruit for a complete breakfast.
