Instructions
Preparation Steps
Wash and chop the apples, discarding the cores.
Combine apples, sugar, apple cider, vanilla extract, cinnamon sticks, salt, and lemon zest in a medium saucepan.
Bring mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 25 minutes until apples are soft and sauce thickens.
Remove from heat and cool down to room temperature. Remove cinnamon sticks before serving.
Notes
Adjust cinnamon and sweetness according to your taste. This sauce can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.
