Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with butter.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in the honey (or maple syrup) and beer until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
Pour the melted butter into the batter and stir gently to combine.
Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
This bread is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. It also freezes well for longer storage.
