  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup whole milk

Cinnamon Swirl

  • 0.5 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar sifted
  • 2 tablespoons milk add more if needed
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x9 inch baking pan by greasing it lightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy using a mixer.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients, alternating with milk.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle all of the cinnamon swirl ingredients over the batter.
  • Carefully add the remaining batter on top and smooth out with a spatula.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • While the cake is cooling, whisk together the glaze ingredients. Drizzle over the warm cake.

Notes

This cake can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days.
