Delicious and easy toffee bars that are perfect for any occasion. A sweet treat with a buttery, caramel flavor.

Ingredients
  

Toffee Base

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Topping

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans optional

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  • Gradually add the flour to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined, forming a thick dough.

  • Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot base. Let sit for a few minutes until melted, then spread into a smooth layer. Sprinkle with chopped pecans if desired.

  • Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

These toffee bars are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored for up to 3 days.
