  • 4.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp yeast active dry
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1.5 cups milk warmed
  • 2 tbsp butter softened
  • 1 egg beaten

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
  • Stir in warm milk, butter, and beaten egg until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled.
  • Punch down the dough and turn onto a floured surface. Roll into a rectangle; cut into 12 squares.
  • Place rolls on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise until doubled.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) until golden brown.

Notes

For a softer roll, lightly brush tops with melted butter after baking.
