  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • 4 cups water
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Optional Toppings

  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup per serving
  • 0.25 cup berries per serving
  • 0.25 cup nuts per serving

Instructions
 

Preparation Steps

  • Bring water and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan.
  • Stir in steel cut oats and reduce heat to low. Simmer, covered, for 20-25 minutes, or until oats are tender and the liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
