  • 4 pounds pork shoulder bone-in preferred
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika smoked variety recommended
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Preparation Steps

  • Combine brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl.
  • Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  • Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker.
  • Pour the barbecue sauce over the pork.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender.
  • Shred the pork with two forks and mix it with the juices in the slow cooker.

Notes

Serve the pulled pork on sandwich buns with coleslaw and extra barbecue sauce, if desired.
