  • 4 pounds pork shoulder also known as pork butt
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika smoked
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper ground
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce your favorite brand

Preparation Steps

  • Combine brown sugar, paprika, pepper, and salt in a small bowl. Rub mixture all over pork shoulder.
  • Place pork shoulder in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until pork falls apart easily.
  • Remove pork from slow cooker and shred with two forks. Stir in barbecue sauce and serve.

Notes

For a spicier version, add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the spice rub.
