Spread half of the bread cubes in the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle half of the browned sausage and Swiss cheese over the bread cubes.
Repeat layering with remaining bread, sausage, and cheese.
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until smooth.
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered ingredients, pressing down gently to help the bread absorb the liquid.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the strata is puffed and golden brown.
Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
