  • 2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 cup milk room temperature
  • 2 pieces egg lightly beaten
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese optional

Herbed Butter

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons dried Italian herbs
  • 1 clove garlic minced

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, and melted butter. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients.
  • Fold in the cheddar cheese if using. Spoon the batter evenly into the prepared muffin tin.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the tops are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • To make the herbed butter, mix the melted butter, Italian herbs, and garlic in a small bowl. Brush the tops of the warm bread cups with the herbed butter.
  • Let the bread cups cool for a few minutes before removing from the muffin tin. Serve warm.

Notes

Customize the bread cups with your favorite ingredients like olives, feta cheese, or sun-dried tomatoes for added flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
