Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 or leaner
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 medium golden potatoes diced (or russet)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning optional
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for heat
  • ½ cup beef broth or water
  • ½ cup shredded cheese cheddar or mozzarella, optional
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

Step 1: Cook the Ground Beef

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5-6 minutes, breaking it apart until browned.
  • Remove excess grease if needed.

Step 2: Sauté the Aromatics

  • Push beef to one side of the skillet. Add butter or oil to the empty space.
  • Sauté onions for 2 minutes, then add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 3: Cook the Potatoes

  • Add diced potatoes, salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  • Stir everything together and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat.

Step 4: Simmer & Soften the Potatoes

  • Pour in ½ cup beef broth (or water) and cover the skillet with a lid.
  • Reduce heat to low and let the potatoes cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft.

Step 5: Final Touches

  • Remove the lid and let any extra liquid cook off.
  • Stir in cheese (if using) and let it melt.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
