Pumpkin Oat Dog Cookies with Four Ingredients

Bake pumpkin oat dog cookies with plain pumpkin puree, oat flour, one egg, and optional cinnamon for a simple homemade treat.

  • 1 cup plain pumpkin puree not pumpkin pie filling
  • 2 1/2 cups oats ground into flour, or use oat flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Combine the plain pumpkin puree, egg, and optional cinnamon in a large mixing bowl, stirring until smooth.
  • Slowly add the oat flour while stirring until a workable dough forms, adding a little more oat flour one tablespoon at a time only if the dough is too sticky.
  • Roll the dough about 1/4 inch thick on a surface lightly dusted with oat flour.
  • Cut the dough with cookie cutters or slice it into squares with a knife.
  • Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until firm and slightly golden at the edges.
  • Cool the cookies completely before serving them to a dog.

Notes

Store cooled treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, refrigerate for up to two weeks, or freeze for up to three months and thaw before serving.
Consult a veterinarian before introducing a new homemade treat because individual dogs have different dietary needs.
