Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare brownie mix according to package directions, including eggs, oil, and water. Bake in a greased 9x13 inch pan until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
Let brownies cool completely. Once cooled, cut into 1-inch cubes.
For the peanut butter mousse: In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese and peanut butter until smooth. Gradually beat in powdered sugar until well combined.
Gently fold in the whipped heavy cream until no streaks remain.
For the chocolate ganache: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and melted. Allow to cool slightly.
Assemble the trifle: In a large trifle dish or individual glasses, layer brownie cubes, peanut butter mousse, and a drizzle of chocolate ganache. Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of mousse.
Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld. Garnish with chopped peanut butter cups and chocolate syrup.
Notes
This trifle is best served chilled. You can also add a layer of fresh berries for a fruity contrast.
