Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter divided
- 1 tablespoon garlic minced
- 1 cup long-grain rice rinsed and drained
- 2 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth or water
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 4 tablespoons whole milk
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese shredded, plus more to serve
- to taste salt and pepper
- as needed parsley, green onions, or chives for garnish
Instructions
Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant and just beginning to turn soft brown.
Add rinsed rice and toast for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring often so it does not burn.
Pour in broth and stir in onion powder and granulated garlic.
Reduce heat to low, loosely cover, and stir every few minutes. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, until the rice is tender.
Remove from heat. Stir in the remaining tablespoon butter, milk, and Parmesan until blended.
Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with herbs and more Parmesan, then serve immediately.
