Olive Garden Breadsticks Recipe

A copycat recipe for Olive Garden's famous garlic butter breadsticks, featuring soft, fluffy dough topped with a rich garlic butter glaze.

Dough Ingredients

  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water 110°F
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

Garlic Butter Topping

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  • Add olive oil, salt, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
  • Gradually add remaining flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Turn onto floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down dough and roll into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Cut dough into 12 equal strips. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  • While breadsticks bake, prepare garlic butter: mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  • Brush warm breadsticks generously with garlic butter immediately after removing from oven.

Notes

Serve warm for the best flavor. These breadsticks are perfect as an appetizer or side dish.
