Preparation Steps

  • Combine vanilla wafer crumbs, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and melted butter in a bowl. Mix until crumbly.
  • Press the mixture firmly into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Chill while you prepare the next layer.
  • For the cream cheese layer, beat softened cream cheese with the remaining sugar until smooth. Fold in 2 cups of whipped topping.
  • Spread cream cheese mixture over the crust evenly. Set in the refrigerator.
  • Mix apple pie filling with cinnamon. Layer it gently over the cream cheese layer.
  • Top with remaining whipped topping, sprinkle with pecans, and drizzle caramel sauce over the top.
