Preparation Steps
Combine vanilla wafer crumbs, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and melted butter in a bowl. Mix until crumbly.
Press the mixture firmly into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Chill while you prepare the next layer.
For the cream cheese layer, beat softened cream cheese with the remaining sugar until smooth. Fold in 2 cups of whipped topping.
Spread cream cheese mixture over the crust evenly. Set in the refrigerator.
Mix apple pie filling with cinnamon. Layer it gently over the cream cheese layer.
