  • 2 cups mushrooms sliced
  • 12 slices cheddar cheese or your preferred cheese
  • 2 cans condensed cream of mushroom soup 10.5 ounces each
  • 0.5 cup milk whole milk for best results
  • 2 cups herb-seasoned croutons crushed
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 0.25 cup fresh parsley chopped, optional for garnish

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish lightly with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
  • Place chicken breasts in the prepared dish, ensuring even spacing.
  • Top each chicken breast with slices of cheddar cheese.
  • In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
  • Pour the mushroom sauce over the chicken and cheese.
  • Spread the sliced mushrooms over the sauce-covered chicken.
  • Sprinkle crushed herb-seasoned croutons over the entire dish.
  • Drizzle melted butter over the crouton layer.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the top is golden.
  • Allow to rest for 5 minutes, then garnish with parsley and serve.

Notes
