Mama’s Classic Cornbread Dressing – A Southern Comfort Favorite

  • 4 cups crumbled cornbread freshly baked or store-bought
  • 1 cup chopped celery finely diced
  • 1 cup chopped onion finely diced
  • 2.5 cups chicken broth low sodium preferred
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage ground
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Sauté celery and onion until soft.
  • In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, sautéed vegetables, chicken broth, and sage. Mix gently until well combined.
  • Transfer mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding cooked sausage or bacon bits.
