  • 4 cups crumbled cornbread preferably a day old
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon sage ground
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread with chicken broth and let it sit for a few minutes to absorb the liquid.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté celery and onion in melted butter until soft. Add to the cornbread mixture.
  • Stir in sage, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crisp.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can add cooked crumbled sausage or chopped pecans to the dressing before baking.
