This classic Southern cornbread dressing combines crumbled cornbread with a savory blend of onion, celery, and sage for a comforting holiday side dish.

  • 4 cups crumbled cornbread preferably a day old
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth homemade or store-bought
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 teaspoons dried sage or more to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, sauté the onion and celery in butter until softened.
  • In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, sautéed vegetables, chicken broth, and sage. Mix well.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the amount of sage to your liking for a more robust flavor.
