  • 4 cup milk whole milk recommended
  • 4 large eggs
  • 0.75 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg for sprinkling

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk eggs and sugar together until well blended.
  • Stir in milk, vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Pour the mixture into custard cups and sprinkle with nutmeg.
  • Place cups in a baking pan and fill the pan with hot water halfway up the sides of the cups.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.

Notes

This dessert is delicious served either warm or chilled.
