Italian bread recipe

A simple recipe for delicious Italian bread, perfect for dipping in olive oil or serving with pasta.

  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 2 teaspoon Active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add salt, flour, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down dough and shape into a loaf. Place in a greased loaf pan.
  • Let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
