Melt half of the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
Add the flour to create a roux, stirring quickly for about 1-2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in the milk to form a smooth sauce. Let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes.
Stir in the pesto and continue cooking on low heat, allowing the flavors to meld for 3 minutes.
