  • 3 teaspoons red food coloring liquid

  • 3 cups powdered sugar for dusting
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter for greasing

Preparation Steps

  • Butter a baking sheet and line it with parchment paper, then grease the parchment.
  • In a large saucepan, stir together sugar, corn syrup, water, and food coloring. Heat over medium-high, stirring until dissolved.
  • Attach a candy thermometer and boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F.
  • Remove from heat and stir in cinnamon extract. Pour onto the prepared sheet to cool.
  • Let the candy rest at room temperature until firm, at least 4 hours.
  • Dust with powdered sugar and break into pieces.
  • Toss pieces with remaining powdered sugar before storing.
