  • 3 sleeve saltine crackers approximately 100 crackers
  • 1 pound cheddar cheese sharp cheddar for best flavor
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoon cayenne pepper adjust for desired heat level

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Slice cheese into squares approximately the size of the crackers.
  • Cut each bacon strip into 3 pieces, roughly fitting the size of the cracker.
  • Place crackers on work surface, top with a cheese slice, bacon piece, and a sprinkle of brown sugar and cayenne.
  • Arrange crackers on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 35-45 minutes, checking for a caramelized appearance.
  • Allow the crackers to cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a dash of maple syrup over the bacon before baking.
