Honey Chipotle Chicken

Tender, juicy chicken glazed with a smoky, sweet, and slightly spicy honey chipotle sauce. Perfect for grilling, baking, or pan-searing.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts chicken breasts
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons adobo sauce (from canned chipotle peppers)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 chipotle pepper in adobo finely chopped (optional, for extra heat)

Preparation Steps

  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, adobo sauce, olive oil, garlic, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, black pepper, apple cider vinegar, and chopped chipotle pepper (if using) to make the marinade.
  • Place chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Turn to coat evenly. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Remove chicken from marinade, letting excess drip off. Reserve remaining marinade for basting.
  • Cook chicken: If baking, place on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes, basting once halfway through, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). If grilling or pan-searing, cook 5–7 minutes per side, basting occasionally, until fully cooked.
  • Let chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra sauce if desired.

Notes

For a milder flavor, omit the chopped chipotle pepper. Serve with rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.
