Healthy Cinnamon Apples: Easy Skillet Side Dish
Make tender, warmly spiced healthy cinnamon apples in one skillet with apple juice, cinnamon, and a bright finish of cider vinegar.

Ingredients
- 4 pounds apples cored and sliced into 8 wedges; do not slice too thin
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- 1/4 cup sugar-free sweetener or honey
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2–3 teaspoons arrowroot or organic cornstarch optional thickener; use 1 teaspoon glucomannan instead if preferred
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Place apples and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Toss until the butter melts and coats the apples.
Mix apple juice, sweetener, cinnamon, allspice, and salt. Pour over the apples, toss, cover, and simmer over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes.
Uncover and toss. Continue simmering until the sauce thickens, or quickly toss with the optional arrowroot, cornstarch, or glucomannan.
Stir in apple cider vinegar and serve hot.
