  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 cup Sliced Mushrooms
  • 0.5 cup Diced Onion
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 0.25 cup Dry Sherry
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose Flour
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black Pepper
  • 0.25 tsp Paprika

Preparation Steps

  • Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Add butter to the skillet and melt. Add onion and mushrooms and cook until softened.
  • Stir in flour, salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook for 1 minute.
  • Gradually whisk in beef broth and sherry. Bring to a simmer.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, or until sauce has thickened.
  • Stir in sour cream. Heat through. Do not boil.
  • Serve over egg noodles or rice.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use cream instead of sour cream. You can also add a tablespoon of Dijon mustard for extra tang.
