Grinch Cookies

Festive and fun Grinch-shaped cookies perfect for the holiday season!

Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon green food coloring gel or liquid

Grinch Heart Decoration

  • 0.5 cup red candy melts

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Add the green food coloring and mix until the dough is evenly colored.
  • Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  • Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies. Place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Melt the red candy melts according to package directions.
  • Once the cookies are completely cooled, use a small spoon or piping bag to drizzle or dot red candy melts onto the center of each cookie to resemble a Grinch heart.
  • Allow the candy melts to set before serving.

Notes

These cookies are best enjoyed with a glass of milk or a warm cup of cocoa.
