Classic Peach Cobbler

A warm, comforting dessert featuring sweet peaches baked in a golden, buttery biscuit-like topping. Perfect for summer or any time you crave a classic American dessert.

Ingredients
  

Peach Filling

  • 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Cobbler Topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine sliced peaches, granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir gently and let sit while preparing the batter.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. In another bowl, beat the egg, then add milk and vanilla. Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir until just combined.
  • Pour half of the batter evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Spoon the peach mixture on top, then drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle with 1/4 cup flour.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter over the peaches, spreading gently if needed. Dot with small pieces of butter.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
