Preparation Steps
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the flour mixture and mix on medium speed until well incorporated.
Carefully stir in the boiling water (batter will be thin), then pour evenly into the prepared pans.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Let cakes cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then remove and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For an extra flavor boost, you can sprinkle chocolate chips over the batter just before baking.
