Classic and Traditional Lasagna

This classic lasagna is made with layers of rich beef ragù, creamy béchamel, and lots of cheese. A family favorite recipe cherished by many.

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef lean
  • 1 box lasagna noodles pre-cooked
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large pan, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a baking dish. Layer noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Repeat layers.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of ground nutmeg to the ricotta mixture.
