In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
2 cups all-purpose flour,
1 cup granulated sugar,
1.5 teaspoons baking powder
In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

0.5 teaspoon salt
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
0.5 cup unsalted butter,
2 large eggs
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool completely before serving or decorating as desired.
