  • 1.5 pounds cooked chicken shredded
  • 1 loaf day-old bread cubed
  • 1 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 0.5 cup chopped celery
  • 0.5 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the shredded cooked chicken, cubed bread, chopped onion, and chopped celery.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, chicken broth, beaten eggs, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and gently mix until everything is well combined.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the dressing is heated through.
  • Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

This chicken and dressing is delicious served with mashed potatoes and gravy, or as a side dish to roasted turkey or chicken.
