Buttermilk Bar Doughnut

A delightful buttermilk doughnut bar, glazed to perfection.

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk at room temperature
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 egg egg

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the buttermilk, melted butter, and egg.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Roll dough to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut into bars.
  • Fry bars for 2-3 minutes each side, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Notes

Serve warm with your choice of glaze or icing.
