  • 1.5 cups mashed bananas
  • 0.333 cup unsalted butter, melted cooled slightly
  • 1 large egg at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt to the banana mixture. Stir until well combined.
  • Gently fold in the flour until just incorporated, being careful not to overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (but no wet batter).
  • Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into squares.
