Baked Ziti – A Classic Italian-American Comfort Dish

This Baked Ziti recipe combines layers of pasta, meat sauce, and cheese for a warming family meal.

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions, then drain.
  • In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat and stir in marinara sauce.
  • Mix ricotta cheese with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
  • Layer half of the pasta in a large baking dish. Top with half of the meat sauce and cheese mixture. Repeat layers.
  • Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  • Bake for 25 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.

Notes

Let the baked ziti rest for 5 minutes before serving to make it easier to slice and serve.
