This baked macaroni and cheese is a creamy and cheesy delight that makes a comforting dinner or a side dish for any occasion.

  • 8 ounces macaroni uncooked
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 cups milk whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter unsalted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute until lightly golden.
  • Gradually whisk in milk and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  • Combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer macaroni and cheese to a baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

You can add breadcrumbs on top for extra crunch before baking.
