Baked Apple Donuts

Deliciously spiced baked apple donuts, perfect for a fall treat!

Ingredients
  

Donut Batter

  • 1.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 0.5 cup apple, finely diced

Topping

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoons cinnamon

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a donut pan or line with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Gently fold in the diced apple.
  • Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean.
  • While the donuts are baking, prepare the topping by melting the butter in a small bowl. Stir in the sugar and cinnamon until well combined.
  • Once the donuts are baked, let them cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
