Baked Apple Donuts

Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a donut pan or line with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
Gently fold in the diced apple.
Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean.
While the donuts are baking, prepare the topping by melting the butter in a small bowl. Stir in the sugar and cinnamon until well combined.
Once the donuts are baked, let them cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
