Amish Pumpkin Bread

This Amish pumpkin bread is incredibly moist, tender, and perfectly spiced. A classic fall treat that's easy to make!

  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.33 cup water
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree not pumpkin pie filling
  • 1.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the vegetable oil and sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the water and pumpkin puree.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

This bread is delicious served plain, or with a smear of butter. It also freezes well!
