Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and almond extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the toasted sliced almonds and dried tart cherries until evenly distributed.
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden but centers still look soft. Do not overbake.
Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or freeze for longer storage.
