Cajun Butter Bourbon Steak is the perfect blend of smoky, spicy, and savory flavors with a touch of sweetness from bourbon. This recipe combines tender, seared steak with a buttery Cajun-infused sauce that takes the dish to a whole new level. Whether it’s a special dinner or a weekend indulgence, this steak will leave your taste buds wanting more.

Ingredients

  • 4 ribeye or sirloin steaks (6-8 oz each, about 1-inch thick)
  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ cup (60ml) bourbon whiskey
  • ½ cup (120ml) beef broth
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Directions

  1. Season the Steaks:
Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and generously rub them with Cajun seasoning on all sides. Let them rest at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
  2. Sear the Steaks:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. Sear the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside to rest.
  3. Prepare the Sauce:
In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add butter. Once melted, stir in the garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Deglaze with Bourbon:
Carefully pour in the bourbon, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Allow the alcohol to cook off, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Finish the Sauce:
Stir in the beef broth, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Simmer the sauce for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Combine and Serve:
Return the steaks to the skillet, spoon the Cajun butter bourbon sauce over the top, and let them warm through for 2 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Steak Cuts: Ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon work well for this recipe. Adjust cooking times for thinner or thicker cuts.
  • Alcohol-Free Option: Substitute bourbon with apple juice or beef broth for a similar sweet and savory profile.
  • Spice Level: Increase or decrease the cayenne pepper to suit your heat preference.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to maintain the steak’s tenderness.

Cajun Butter Bourbon Steak is a flavorful, restaurant-quality dish you can easily make at home. Pair it with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a crisp side salad for a complete meal that’s sure to impress!
